Child and Adolescent Counseling

At Little Sparks Therapy Center, we understand that growing up can feel overwhelming. Children and teens experience big emotions, social challenges, academic pressure, and sometimes difficulty managing behavior or focus. Child & Adolescent Counseling offers a safe, supportive space for kids ages 7 and up to explore their feelings, learn healthy coping strategies, and build confidence in themselves—at home, in school, and in their relationships.

This service is provided by a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, ensuring developmentally-appropriate, evidence-based support tailored to each child’s needs. Sessions help children understand their thoughts and emotions, express themselves more confidently, and develop practical skills to navigate everyday situations. Our goal is not to “fix” a child, but to guide them toward emotional growth, self-awareness, and resilience.

Who is counseling for?

Child & Adolescent Counseling is designed for children and teens who may be experiencing:

  • Emotional concerns (sadness, anxiety, worry, low confidence)

  • Behavioral challenges (impulsivity, difficulty following rules, outbursts)

  • Attention and focus concerns (including ADHD support)

  • Social difficulties (friendship issues, bullying, peer conflicts)

  • School-related challenges (academic pressure, motivation, adjustment)

  • Family transitions and communication struggles

Whether a child needs one-on-one guidance, support during a stressful period, or long-term care to manage ongoing concerns, we meet them where they are — compassionately and professionally.

What Families Can Expect

Our approach begins with getting to know the child—what they enjoy, what they struggle with, and what they hope to achieve. Through developmentally-friendly conversation, and cognitive-behavioral strategies, counseling sessions will help your child:

  • Build emotional regulation and coping skills

  • Increase self-awareness and confidence

  • Strengthen communication and social skills

  • Improve focus, flexibility, and decision-making

  • Practice positive behavior and self-management

Parents receive guidance and feedback to support progress at home, ensuring counseling becomes a team effort. Sessions are structured, goal-oriented, and always rooted in kindness, respect, and patience.
